Cold Wave Conditions
Even as the winter chill is still missing, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday informed that there is every possibility that the minimum or night temperature in Odisha will drop in the next 48 hours.
As per IMD’s latest forecast, the minimum temperature is likely to fall by 2 to 4 degree Celsius during the next two days and thereafter rise by 2 to 3 degrees in subsequent three days.
Earlier in the day, the IMD informed that a cyclonic circulation lies over Equatorial Indian Ocean and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal in lower tropospheric levels. Under its influence, a low pressure area is likely to form over central parts of south Bay of Bengal around December 7, said IMD.
The system is likely to move west-north-westwards and reach over southwest Bay of Bengal off Sri-Lanka – Tamil Nadu coasts around December 12.
