Odisha braces for intense cold wave as IMD predicts further fall in temperature in 24 hours

Odisha faces an intensified cold wave as IMD predicts a 2-3°C temperature drop in 24 hours, with dense fog affecting regions like Kandhamal, Jharsuguda, and Sundargarh.

Cold Wave Conditions In Odisha

As the chilling cold wave continues to batter several parts of Odisha, more intense cold seems to be in store for the state as the IMD has predicted that the minimum temperature may fall by 2-3 degree Celsius in the next 24 hours.

As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast, the prevailing cold wave will further intensify after 24 hours, causing a significant drop in mercury levels. The predictions come even as Odisha reels under intense cold and dense fog conditions.

While coastal regions are witnessing temperatures a few degrees above normal, interior parts of Kandhamal, Phulbani, Daringbadi, G. Udayagirim Similiguda, Rourkela and Jharsuguda are recording below-normal temperatures, shivering at lows of as much as 6 degree Celsius.

Cuttack and Bhubaneswar also noticed a dip in temperature with fog and cold conditions gripping the twin cities. Apart from intensification of the cold wave, foggy conditions are also expected to further intensify in several parts of the state.

Yellow Warning: Dense fog very likely to occur at one or two places over the district of Koraput, Kandhamal, Jharsuguda, Angul, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Nayagarh, Sundargarh.

Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 14.01.2025 to 0830 hrs IST of 15.01.2025)
Shallow to moderate fog very likely to occur at one or two places over the district of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur.
