The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday issued heavy rainfall alert for several districts in Odisha.

As per IMD, a low pressure area has formed over west-central and adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal. It is very likely to become more marked over west-central and adjoining north-west Bay of Bengal off north Andhra Pradesh- south Odisha coasts during next 48 hours.

Several parts of the state are likely to experience heavy rainfall activities in the coming days.

Heavy rainfall warning for next five days as follows:

Day-1: (Valid upto 0830 hrs IST of 09.09.22)

Yellow Warning (Be updated): Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Khordha and Puri.

Day-2: (Valid from 0830 Hrs IST of 09.09.22 to 0830 Hrs IST of 10.09.22)

Yellow warning (Be updated) Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20 cm) is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Koraput, Kandhamal, Gajapati, and Ganjam. Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Khordha, Puri, Nayagarh, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Rayagada and Malkangiri.

Day-3: (Valid from 0830 Hrs IST of 10.09.22to 0830 Hrs IST of 11.09.22)

Orange warning (Be prepared): Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Khordha, Nayagarh and Puri.

Yellow warning (Be updated): Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Nuapada, Bolangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur and Cuttack.

Day-4: (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 11.09.22 to 0830 hrs IST of 12.09.22)

Orange warning (Be prepared): Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Bargarh, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Bolangir, Boudh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Deogarh, Jharsuguda and Cuttack.

Yellow warning (Be updated): Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Nuapada, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Khordha, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Jajpur, Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Sundargarh.

Day-5: (Valid from 0830 Hrs IST of 12.09.22 to 0830 Hrs IST of 13.09.22)

Yellow Warning (Be updated) Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Nuapada, Bolangir, Bargarh, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.
