Bhubaneswar: The Monsoon flow over the Bay of Bengal is getting strengthened with associated clouds becoming more organised. The southwest monsoon is likely to advance into entire Odisha during the next two to three days, said the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday.

“A cyclonic circulation lies over East-central and adjoining Northeast Bay of Bengal between 4.5 & 5.8 km above mean sea level. Under its influence, a Low Pressure Area is likely to form over North Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood around June 11. It is likely to more marked during subsequent 24 hours,” said IMD.

The IMD also warned that thunderstorm with moderate to severe lightning activity and heavy rainfall is likely to occur in several parts of Odisha this week.

Squally weather with surface wind speed reaching 40 to 50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph is likely to occur over central Bay of Bengal adjoining North Bay of Bengal during June 10-12 and along and off Odisha coast and North Bay of Bengal adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal from June 11, 2021.

Yellow Warning (Be updated): Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Deogarb. Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada and Jagatsinghpur.

Day-2 (Valid from 0830 Hrs 1ST of 10.06.21 to 0830 IST of 11.06.21.)

Orange Warning (Be prepared): Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at a few places with extremely heavy falls at isolated places over the districts of Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Angul, Dhenkanal, and Sambalpur.

Yellow Warning (Be updated): Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Bhadrak, Balasore, Jajpur, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Malkangiri, Koraput, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, Sonepur and Nabarangpur.

Day-3 (Valid from 0830 Hrs 1ST of 11.06.21 to 0830 Hrs 1ST of 12.06.21.)
