Low pressure over east-central Arabian sea to intensify into depression: IMD

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported a well-marked low-pressure area over the east-central Arabian Sea near Karnataka-Goa coasts, expected to intensify into a Depression within 2-3 days. A cyclonic circulation is observed over Southwest Bay of Bengal off Tamil Nadu coast, with another likely to develop around October 12. The forecast includes significant rainfall in Northeast India, particularly Arunachal Pradesh and Assam-Meghalaya regions.

Low pressure over east-central Arabian sea to intensify into depression: IMD

The well-marked low-pressure area over the east-central Arabian Sea off the Karnataka-Goa coasts is likely to move northwestwards and intensify into a Depression over the central Arabian Sea during the next 2-3 days, informed the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday.

As per IMD, the cyclonic circulation over Sri Lanka and neighbourhood is now seen over the Southwest Bay of Bengal off the Tamil Nadu coast. Similarly, another fresh cyclonic circulation very likely to develop over central parts of south Bay of Bengal around October 12 at lower and middle tropospheric levels.

Northeast India: Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall very likely over Arunachal Pradesh during the next four days and scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall over the remaining days during the week.

Isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over Arunachal Pradesh from 10th -12th October and Assam and Meghalaya from 10th -11th October.

Northwest, East & Central India: No significant rainfall is likely over these regions during the next one week.
