Under the influence of a cyclonic circulation over West-central and adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal, a low pressure area has formed over Northwest and adjoining West-central-Bay of Bengal off Odisha-north Andhra Pradesh coasts in the next 24 hours.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday said that the north-south trough from Jharkhand to Westcentral Bay of Bengal off south Odisha coast across Odisha has become less marked.
As per IMD, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur in five districts of Odisha- Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Nabarangpur and Rayagada in the next 24 hours. Similarly, the districts of Ganjam, Puri, Khordha, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Keonjhar, Cuttack, Kalahandi and Kandhamal are also likely to experience heavy rains during the same period.

Yellow Warning (To be updated): Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Nabarangpur and Rayagada. Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Ganjam, Puri, Khordha, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Keonjhar, Cuttack, Kalahandi and Kandhamal.
Day 2 (valid from 1330 hrs IST of 17.08.2021 upto 0830 hrs IST of 18.08.2021)
Yellow Warning (To be updated): Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kandhamal, Boudh, Puri, Khordha and Cuttack. Heavy rainfall is also likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sambalpur, Sonepur, Nayagarh, Angul, Kalahandi, Jagatsinghpur and Ganjam.
Day 3 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 18.08.2021 upto 0830 hrs IST of 19.08.2021)
Yellow Warning (To be updated): Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Sambalpur and, Nuapada.
