At a time when several parts of Odisha are experiencing rain and thunderstorm activities for the past couple of days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday said that a fresh low pressure area has formed over West Bengal and North-Odisha.

As per IMD, the low pressure has been formed under the influence of a cyclonic circulation over Gangetic West Bengal and neighbourhood.

“A Low Pressure area has formed over West Bengal and adjoining north -Odisha and associated cyclonic circulation extends upto 5.8 km above mean sea level,” tweeted IMD’s Regional Centre in Bhubaneswar.

It is pertinent to mention here that several parts of Odisha are experiencing moderate to heavy rainfall under the influence of a low pressure area which had formed over the Bay of Bengal on October 14, 2021.

On Sunday, the IMD had predicted that the rain and thunderstorm activities will continue at several parts of Odisha till October 22, 2021.
