Low pressure around Oct 4; no forecast yet on depression or cyclone, says IMD DG

Director General of the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Mrutyunjay Mohapatra on Wednesday informed that a trough runs from the cyclonic circulation over southeast Bangladesh and its neighbourhood to the North Andaman Sea across the Myanmar coast.

Will the fresh low pressure intensify into a depression or a cyclonic storm? Such questions have now cropped up in the minds of people after getting information regarding the formation of a low-pressure over the North Bay of Bengal and the neighbourhood around October 4.

Director General of the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Mrutyunjay Mohapatra on Wednesday informed that a trough runs from the cyclonic circulation over southeast Bangladesh and its neighbourhood to the North Andaman Sea across the Myanmar coast.

 
Under its influence, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the North Bay of Bengal and the neighbourhood around October 4. However, the IMD has not made any forecast regarding the low pressure intensifying into a depression or a cyclonic storm, informed Mohapatra.
