A yellow warning for thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph has been issued for 12 Odisha districts in the next 24 hours. The alert was sounded by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday.

The warning has been issued for the districts of Angul, Dhenkanal, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara Koraput, Rayagada and Kandhamal.

As per IMD, people in Odisha will get relief from the scorching heat conditions in view of the rain and thunderstorm activities.

“The maximum temperature (Day Temperature) likely to fall by 2-3 degree Celsius during the next two days and maximum temperature will gradual rise by 3 to 4 degrees in subsequent three days,” said IMD.

Thunderstorm with lightning is also likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Boudh, Kalahandi, Malkangiri and Nabarangpur.

Yellow Warning (Be updated): Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Dhenkanal.

Day-3 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 23.04.2022 up to 0830 hrs IST of 24.04.2022)

Yellow Warning (Be updated): Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Gajapati and Mayurbhanj.
