The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday issued an alert for cold wave conditions and dense to very dense fog in several parts of India in the next couple of days.

As per IMD, there will be no significant change in the minimum temperatures over Northwest India during the next two days. However, the minimum temperature is likely to fall by 2 to 3 degree Celsius thereafter.

Cold Wave Warning

Cold wave to severe cold wave conditions likely in isolated pockets very likely over northern Parts of Rajasthan during January 3 to 6 & in Punjab on January 3 and 4.

Cold wave conditions in isolated pockets over Himachal Pradesh during January 3 To January 6; Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi during January 3 to January 7, 2023.

The weather agency further said that there will be no significant change in the minimum temperatures over East India during next three days and likely to register fall by 2 to 4 degrees thereafter.

Fog Warning

Dense to very dense fog very likely in some/many pockets in night/morning hours over Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar during the next five days. Dense fog in isolated pockets also very likely over Himachal Pradesh, East Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Assam and Tripura during next 2-3 days and Odisha during next 24 hours.
