Hot summer days ahead as heat wave to sweep across India

As per IMD, there is a possibility of a gradual rise in maximum temperatures by 2 to 4°C likely over many parts of Northwest India, Maharashtra and South Peninsular India during next four days and fall by 2-3°C during subsequent three days.

A fresh Western Disturbance is likely to affect Western Himalayan region from April 8, informed the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday. The system is likely to trigger widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm, lightning and  gusty winds (speed 30-40 kmph) likely over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit Baltistan-Muzaffarabad and isolated to scattered rainfall over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand between April 9 and April 10, 2025.

Heat wave and Hot & Humid weather warning:

Heat wave conditions likely at isolated to few pockets over Gujarat state during 6th-10th April with severe heat wave conditions at isolated pockets over Saurashtra & Kutch on 6th & 07th April.

Heat wave conditions likely over Rajasthan during 6th-10th April with severe heat wave conditions at isolated pockets on during 7th-9th April.

Heat wave conditions very likely in isolated pockets of Himachal Pradesh on 6th & 7th; Haryana, Chandigarh during 6th-10th; Punjab during 7th -10th; Delhi on 7th & 08th; West Uttar Pradesh during 07th-09th; Madhya Pradesh during 08th-10thApril.

Hot & humid weather is likely to prevail over coastal areas of Gujarat State and Konkan & Goa during 06th-09th April.
