The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday predicted heavy rainfall in four districts of Odisha in the next 24 hours. The alert has been sounded for the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur.

As per the latest weather bulletin, thunderstorm with lightning is also likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati,Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj in the next 24 hours.

“Yesterday’s Low Pressure Area over West Bengal & adjoining north Odisha now lies over Bihar and neighbourhood and the associated cyclonic circulation extends up to 5.8 km above mean sea level,” said IMD in a release.

Weather forecast and warning for districts of Odisha for next few days:

Day-1 (valid up to 0830 hrs IST of 20.10.2021)

Yellow Warning (To be updated): Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur.

Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati,Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.

Day-2 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 20.10.2021 up to 0830 hrs IST of 21.10.2021)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of north coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj,Khordha and Puri.

Day-3 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 21.10.2021 up to 0830 hrs IST of 22.10.2021)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of coastal Odisha.
