Heavy fog alert! Yellow warning issued for three districts of Odisha
The Odisha Weather Department has issued a yellow warning over the likelihood of dense fog in Sundargarh, Kandhamal and Koraput districts, asking people to be vigilant.
The warning will remain in effect for two days, and according to the forecast, there is a possibility of dense fog at one or two places in the respective districts. Yellow warning brings into focus the awareness and preparedness of the public.
As of January 9, 2025, dry weather conditions are likely to continue in the entire state, but shallow to moderate fog is possible in several other districts, namely Keonjhar, Jharsuguda, and Kalahandi. The forecast for the next three days remains dry with night temperatures showing a minor change.
The local police and transport authorities have been instructed to take the required precautions based on the Special Relief Commissioner's suggestions. The people are also requested to exercise extra caution while travelling on such days when there is a lot of fog in the mornings.
On Day 2, from 08:30 IST on January 9 to 08:30 IST on January 10, dry conditions will continue, with shallow to moderate fog possible in Angul, Dhenkanal, Kalahandi, Rayagada, and Jharsuguda, and a yellow warning has been issued in effect for dense fog in Sundargarh and Kandhamal.
On Day 3, valid from 08:30 IST on January 10 to 08:30 IST on January 11, dry weather is expected to persist, while shallow to moderate fog may occur in one or two areas of Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Angul, and Dhenkanal. Residents are advised to remain vigilant and exercise caution, especially during periods of fog.
Fog and mist are predicted in the morning, but a clear sky is forecasted later during the day with temperatures ranging from 28°C for the maximum and 15°C for the minimum. Bhubaneswar residents are encouraged to keep checking on weather updates and take proper precautions to avoid any untoward incidents.
