Heat wave and thunderstorm to lash Odisha districts; IMD issues orange and yellow warning

IMD's Latest Alert For Thunderstorm, Heat Wave

Get ready to experience heat wave and thunderstorm activities together in Odisha as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday issued an alert in this regard. It is pertinent to mention here that several parts of Odisha have been reeling under intense heat wave conditions for the past few days.

As per IMD’s latest forecast, several parts of the state are likely to experience thunderstorms with lightning from March 18, 2025.

The IMD has also issued an orange warning for heat wave to severe heat wave in some pockets of the state and a yellow warning for thunderstorm activities in other parts of the state.

Day 1 (Valid upto 0830 hrs IST of 18.03.2025)

Orange Warning: Heat wave condition is very likely to prevail at a few places with severe heat wave condition very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Jharsuguda, Boudh.

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur.

Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 18.03.2025 to 0830 hrs IST of 19.03.2025)

Orange Warning: Heat wave condition very likely to prevail at a one or Two places over the districts of Jharsuguda, Boudh.

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhargarh, Mayurbhanj .

Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 19.03.2025 to 0830 hrs IST of 20.03.2025)

Orange Warning: Heat wave condition very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Boudh.

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj , Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Dhenkanal.

Day 4 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 20.03.2025 to 0830 hrs IST of 21.03.2025)

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning and hail with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Sundargarh.

Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj.
