Deep depression or cyclone? Clear picture likely to emerge on May 23, says IMD DG

IMD Director General Mrutyunjay Mohapatra on Wednesday stated that as per the forecast, it will continue to move northeastwards and intensify further thereafter. The sea condition is rough and there will be gradual rise in wind speed over Central and north Bay of Bengal from May 23 onwards.

As predicted by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a low pressure area has formed over Southwest adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal on Wednesday. The system is likely to move northeastwards and concentrate into Depression over central parts of Bay of Bengal by May 24.
