A fresh western disturbance and its interaction with easterly winds is likely to affect Northwest India from January 10 to 12.

Cyclonic circulation over northeast Assam to trigger hailstorm

A cyclonic circulation lies over northeast Assam and the neighbourhood in lower tropospheric levels, informed India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday. The IMD predicted light to moderate rainfall at many places accompanied by thunderstorm activity over Northeastern states on January 7 and January 8, 2025.

Apart from this, an isolated hailstorm is also likely over Sikkim and north Assam today and isolated rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning over Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on January 7 and 8.

A fresh western disturbance and its interaction with easterly winds is likely to affect Northwest India from January 10 to 12. Under its influence, light to moderate rainfall/snowfall is likely over the Western Himalayan region and light rainfall over the plains of Northwest India during the same period.

Forecast For Odisha

IMD today informed that there will be no large change in the minimum temperature (night temperature) for the next four days and subsequently rise by 2-4 degrees C over the districts of Odisha.

Yellow Warning: Dense to very dense fog is very likely to occur at one or two places over the district of Sundargarh, Kandhamal, Koraput.

Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 08.01.2025 to 0830 hrs IST of 09.01.2025): 

Yellow Warning: Dense to very dense fog is very likely to occur at one or two places over the district of Sundargarh, Kandhamal, Koraput.
