Bhubaneswar: The special weather bulletin issued by the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre on Monday evening further confirmed the likely landfall area of Cyclone Yaas between Paradip and Sagar islands, around Balasore district.

“It is very likely to cross north Odisha-West Bengal coasts between Paradip and Sagar islands around Balasore, during noon of May 26 as a Very Severe Cyclonic Storm,” IMD said in the bulletin.

“It is very likely to move north-northwestwards, intensify further into a Severe Cyclonic Storm during next 12 hours and into a Very Severe Cyclonic Storm during subsequent 24 hours. It would continue to move north-northwestwards, intensify further and reach Northwest Bay of Bengal near north Odisha and West Bengal coast by May 26 early morning,” the department further said.

Orange Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Puri and Khordha.

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal and Ganjam.

Day-2: Valid from 0830 Hrs IST of May 26 to 0830 Hrs IST of May 27

Red Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places with isolated extremely heavy rainfall is very likely to occur over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Dhenkanal

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Angul, Deogarh, Khordha, Puri and Sundergarh.

Day-3: Valid from 0830 Hrs IST of May 27 to 0830 Hrs IST of May 28

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Sundergarh, Deogarh and Keonjhar.
