Cyclone Dana is set to make landfall on October 25, prompting the Odisha government to issue district-wise emergency helpline and control room numbers. ODRAF and NDRF teams have been deployed in vulnerable areas across 15 districts, including Bhubaneswar. The toll-free number for assistance is 1077. In preparation for the cyclone's impact, schools and colleges in 14 districts will remain closed till October 25, and significant train services have been cancelled.

Cyclone Dana: Odisha govt issues district-wise emergency helpline and control room numbers

Cyclone Dana is taking a serious form and is most likely to make landfall on October 25. Odisha’s coastal areas are most likely to bear the brunt. Amid the threat, the state government is all buckled up to minimise the damage.

ODRAF and NDRF teams have been stationed in the vulnerable areas. Meanwhile, the state government has released emergency helpline numbers to assist people across 15 districts including BMC in Bhubaneswar. Moreover, control rooms have been set up to oversee the rescue and relief efforts.

Odisha: Cyclone Dana Updates So Far

Cyclone Dana: 288 rescue teams take position in 13 districts: As many as 288 rescue teams including 19 NDRF teams, 51 ODRAF teams, 178 Fire Services teams and 40 additional Fire Services teams have been deployed in 13 districts to tackle any eventualities that may occur during probable cyclone Dana’s landfall process and in its aftermath. 

Cyclone Dana: 198 trains cancelled on October 23, 24 and 25: In view of the imminent landfall of Cyclone Dana, the East Coast Railway (ECoR) has cancelled as many as 198 trains for three days, on October 23, 24 and 25.

Cyclone Dana: IMD issues red alert for heavy rainfall in 7 Odisha districts on Oct 24: October 24 and October 25 will be crucial for the people in several districts of Odisha in view of the severe cyclonic storm Dana which is likely to trigger heavy to very heavy rainfall in Odisha. 

Cyclone Dana: After schools, colleges and universities in 14 Odisha districts to remain closed till Oct 25: A day after announcing the closure of schools, the Odisha government on Tuesday decided to keep colleges and universities closed in several districts. Colleges and universities in 14 districts will remain closed from October 23 to October 25, 2024.

Cyclone Dana: Odisha to deploy 17 ODRAF teams in 10 districts; 10 additional NDRF teams sought from Centre: The Odisha government has decided to deploy ODRAF and NDRF teams in districts that are likely to be affected by cyclone Dana. As per the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC), a total of 17 ODRAF teams will be deployed in 10 districts of the state that are likely to be affected by cyclone Dana. 

Cyclone Dana: Odisha focuses on evacuation; 250 relief centres ready; woman cops to be deployed: The officials have reviewed and kept 250 relief centers ready. In addition, 500 temporary shelters, including schools and colleges, have been made ready. The health department has also prepared a list of pregnant women.

Cyclone Dana: Odisha govt puts Tata Power on alert; OUAT releases advisory for farmers: The state government has directed Tata Power to be on alert for a quick power restoration. The discom has been directed to deploy adequate emergency response teams to restore power supply in the affected areas including hospitals, drinking water supply projects, and government offices.
