Cyclone Dana To Trigger Heavy Rainfall In Odisha Districts
Odisha is now staring at an impending cyclone threat as a low pressure area formed over the Eastcentral Bay of Bengal and adjoining north Andaman Sea on Monday.
As per India Meteorological Department (IMD), it is very likely to move west-northwestwards and intensify into a depression by October 22 morning and into a cyclonic storm by October 23, 2024 over eastcentral Bay of Bengal. If the cyclonic storm forms, it will be named Dana.
Thereafter, it is very likely to move northwestwards and reach northwest Bay of Bengal off Odisha-West Bengal coasts by October 24 morning.

The IMD on Sunday predicted that several parts of Odisha are likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall under its influence from October 23. The intensity of rainfall will be more on October 24 and 25.

Red Warning: Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) with isolated extremely heavy rainfall (>20cm) and thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Puri, Khordha, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur.
Orange Warning (Be Prepared to take action): Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) and thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Kendrapara, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Gajapati.

Scattered heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) with isolated extremely heavy rainfall (>20cm) is very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of South Odisha.
