Screengrabs from the viral video
A disturbing scene unfolded in Mumbai’s crowded local trains on Tuesday morning, when a violent fight between women commuters in a CST-bound train from Dombivli erupted and quickly went viral on social media.
The altercation, captured in a now widely circulated video, has reignited concerns over passenger safety and the worsening commuter experience, particularly in the ladies’ compartments of Mumbai’s suburban railway network.
The fight reportedly broke out around 8:20 am on July 1, moments after the train departed from Dombivli station. According to witnesses and viral footage, the incident started with an argument during the morning rush and escalated into a physical brawl involving hair-pulling, shouting, and abusive language.

In the video, one woman can be seen pulling another’s hair while others either tried to intervene or looked on helplessly. Sources say the chaos was triggered by overcrowding and jostling while boarding the train, a common scene during peak travel hours in Mumbai’s local trains.
Social media reported that the Government Railway Police (GRP) received calls about the brawl, and the RPF team at Kurla was dispatched.
However, by the time the train reached Kurla station, the women involved had already disembarked, evading any immediate action.
Unfortunately, this was not an isolated case. Just weeks earlier, a similar video surfaced from a Churchgate–Virar train, showing two women in a heated scuffle inside a crowded compartment. In that instance, too, no complaint was filed.
