RPF heroes save elderly woman from falling under moving train

A dramatic rescue at Bankura railway station in West Bengal has gone viral, showcasing the bravery of two Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel who saved a 60-year-old woman from being dragged under a moving train.

Narrow Escape at Bankura Station

The incident took place at 11:09 am on September 12, when the 12883 Santragachi–Purulia Rupsi Bangla Express began leaving platform number 2. The passenger, identified as Sabani Sinha from Purulia, was traveling with her husband. In a risky move, she tried to board the train after it had started moving.

Tragedy nearly struck when Sabani slipped and fell dangerously close to the carriage, her body just inches away from being pulled underneath the wheels.

RPF Officers to the Rescue

On-duty officers ASI Manish Kumar and Constable Gayatri Vishwas spotted the fall and rushed into action. Within seconds, they managed to pull Sabani away from danger, saving her life. The woman was later questioned briefly by railway officials before being allowed to continue her journey.

Bankura RPF station in-charge, Tapan Kumar Rai, hailed his team: “If there had been even a small mistake, a big accident could have occurred. Our jawans acted with perfect promptness.”

Social Media Applauds Brave Officers

The CCTV footage of the rescue has since gone viral, with thousands praising the officers’ quick reflexes and courage. Many social media users hailed them as “real-life heroes.”

Railway authorities have once again reminded passengers: never attempt to board or alight from a moving train — a mistake that could have turned fatal, but for the bravery of two vigilant RPF officers.
