How would you feel if someone confidently called you by the wrong name? For many, it might come across as disrespectful or irritating. But Bollywood actor Ashish Vidyarthi, known for his powerful villainous roles, showed remarkable humility and humour when faced with such a situation in a now-viral video.
The clip, which has resurfaced online, shows a fan recording a selfie video at an airport. Excited, she claimed to have met acclaimed filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker, introducing Vidyarthi to her viewers as the director of Lagaan and Swades.
While the situation could easily have turned awkward, Vidyarthi remained calm. Smiling warmly, he allowed her to finish before gently addressing the mix-up.
Instead of taking offence, Vidyarthi turned the moment into a light-hearted joke. Looking into the camera, he said with a grin, “Achha, if you promise not to edit it, ye meri khaasiyat hai. Everyone calls me by different names. For the first time, someone has called me Ashutosh Gowariker!”
The actor even referenced his appearance on The Kapil Sharma Show, where such playful name mix-ups are often a theme.
