In an unusual turn of events, Babita Chauhan, the Chairperson of Uttar Pradesh State Women Commission, courted controversy after she allegedly refused to accept a flower bouquet during a programme.
The entitled head of Mahila Aayog allegedly felt that she deserved a better welcome as per protocol and refused to accept the bouquet when IAS Pratibha Singh went to welcome her at Taj Mahotsav in Agra with a bouquet.
Instead of accepting the bouquet, she allegedly humiliated the IAS officer by giving her a return bouquet. This behaviour of Babita reportedly left IAS officer Pratibha embarrassed. However, she handled the situation by maintaining her dignity and not forcing Babita.

The incident caught on camera has gone viral on social media, sparking a debate on the behaviours of senior women officers.
As expected, the video shared on X (formerly known as Twitter) has triggered outrage among netizens who called these chairpersons a burden on taxpayers.
“That’s why we always say that members and chairpersons of these women commissions are just a burden on taxpayer's money They do no real work other than making reels, attending parties and functions and they just want protocols, security and official vehicle in the name of woman commission,” shared a user.
Likewise, another user shared, “We also should have an Indian version of DOGE to axe unwanted posts and expenditure.”
“Arrogants like Babita Chauhan need to be shown the door. She’s not fit for the job with such a bloated ego,” commented another user.
The women's commission chairperson has yet to respond to the allegations.
