In a bizarre incident, a groom in Gwalior reportedly walked out of the wedding after the bride's family failed to give him his favourite Apache bike in the dowry.
According to News18 reports, the marriage of Monu Kushwaha, a resident of Taraganj, was fixed with the daughter Kushwaha family of Bahodapur. The wedding was scheduled to take place on February 9 (Thursday).
Reportedly, the groom along with his baraat had come in a grand procession to the wedding venue, Aradhana Marriage Garden, in the Janak Ganj area.
After which the jaimala ceremony was also completed. Later, when Monu was heading to the mandap for the pheras, he noticed that his in-laws are gifting him another bike instead of his favourite Apache in dowry.
He stopped the rituals midway and started demanding an Apache bike from the bride’s family.
According to reports, the groom was adamant that he wanted an Apache bike only and threatened to walk out of the marriage.
Following which the bride's father and brother tried to persuade him. But neither Monu understood nor his family members were ready to accept any bike other than Apache.
Meanwhile, the brother of the bride pleaded and promised to give them the Apache bike after marriage, but they did not agree. After this, there was an argument between the two leading to fight. Later, the matter escalated, the groom and his brothers fled the spot leaving the wedding mid-way.
Later, the bride’s family reached Janakganj police station, where they lodged a complaint against the groom and his family. The police have registered a case of dowry, harassment, and assault against the groom.
Additional SP Gajendra Vardhaman said that they have launched a manhunt to nab the accused groom and assured that strict action will be taken in this matter soon.
