Amind Bengaluru’s serious water crisis, industrialist Anand Mahindra who is known for sharing adorable knowledgeable videos on X, shared a video to harvest water in AC (air conditioners). The viral video showcases an innovative solution for water harvesting from ACs.
Urging his followers to preserve water for the future generation, Mahindra shared the clip and asked everyone to ‘spread the word’.
The video opens up with a text that reads, ‘AC water shortage’ and suggests the usage by saying ‘Reuse AC water for gardening, moping, flushing, and car wash’. The AC owner has connected a thin pipe to an AC condenser that goes into a thick pipe.
A tap is attached to the thick pipe at the bottom. This way a house owner can store 100 litres of AC water in the piple and later use it in many ways, especially for moping, car wash or flushing. In places like Bengaluru that is facing acute water crisis, it is very important to use every drop of water, and with temperature rising, there will be definitely more use of AC.
Sharing the clip, Anand Mahindra wrote, “This needs to become standard equipment throughout India wherever people use A/Cs. Water is Wealth. It needs to be stored safely… 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Spread the word.”
Social media users also seconded Mahindra’s message and urged everyone to save water to avoid an uncertain crisis in the future.
“Water discharged from air-conditioner is not safe to drink but it can be used for gardening and cleaning purposes. There is no dearth of creativity!” commented a user.
Another user wrote, “Install FGD equipment in every smokestack run at the Mahindra facilities before virtue signaling to consumers. This playbook of individual responsibility being thrust upon by corporations has to stop, sir.”
“I have always thought about that such a massive amount of water is getting wasted from AC and that this must be used for some purpose. It's really impressive that someone actually executed this idea. With small execution a lot can happen,” commented a third user.
