Basically, there are 2 types of water tanks. Some are built underground while others are on the roof or the overhead tanks.
Underground water tank –

The best place for an underground water tank is the northeast corner. It should be constructed in such a way that it should not touch the eastern and northern walls.

If the underground water tank is constructed in the southwest or southeast direction; all members of the house will suffer from constant threats of diseases.

If the underground water tank is in the northwest direction, then there will be confusion in the house.

Rooftop Water Tank –
Since the water tank on the roof is the heaviest thing in the house, the size of the water tank and how many people will use it are calculated. According to Vastu Shastra, the best place for a rooftop water tank is south-west corner. If it is difficult to build a water tank in this place, it can be done in the west or south but under no circumstances it can be built in the north-east corner.

Wells and Tube wells
When settling in any place, there must be a source of water. In order to retain water in the dwelling house, one has to use either natural means or mechanical methods. There is a need for a well or tube well. If these wells or wells are dug properly, the household will be better off.

The direction of digging a well or tube well is the east or east-north angle.
