Elisabeth, the Princess of Belgium, has joined Harvard for her postgraduate studies

Princess Elisabeth of Belgium, who is destined to become her country's first reigning queen, has commenced her postgraduate studies in public policy at Harvard Kennedy School, Massachusetts. The prestigious college was stunned to welcome the new face, who is not just another student, but a future monarch.

At the age of 23, she embarks on this academic journey, adding to her already impressive educational background. While she may not be a familiar name in India or the US, she’s a royal figure of Belgium destined to shape history.

Royal Photographs from Belgium

Marking this new chapter, the Belgian Royal Palace has released images of Princess Elisabeth in relaxed student attire, which differs from her usual formal royal engagements.

The photographs shared widely on social media show her in jeans and a sleeveless top, reflecting her transition into student life.

Educational Pursuits

The princess already boasts a Bachelor’s degree in History and Politics from Lincoln College, Oxford University, UK, completed in July 2024.

Her academic path also includes an International Baccalaureate from UWC Atlantic College in Wales, achieved in 2020.

Beyond Belgium's Borders

Despite her international studies, Princess Elisabeth stays connected with her Belgian roots. She regularly visits Belgium to engage in public duties either alone or alongside her parents, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde. Described as sportive, she has a keen interest in skiing, rowing, and sailing.

A Future Monarch

As the eldest child in her family, Princess Elisabeth holds the title of Duchess of Brabant and is first in line to the throne, a position solidified by the amendment to Belgium's succession laws before her birth. Her upbringing included a year at the Royal Military Academy in Belgium, preparing her for her future royal responsibilities.

Cultural Significance

Fluent in Dutch, French, German, and English, Princess Elisabeth symbolises a modern royal adapting to the challenges of contemporary monarchies. Her accession is set to highlight Belgium's evolving role in European royalty while maintaining a grasp on traditional values.
