However, the great India is being littered with plastic that has been choking the country. From ocean depths to mountain peaks, humans have littered the beautiful country with overuse of plastic.
While everyone is only talking about plastic recycling and environmental protection, a school in Assam is showing the way forward with its unique initiative of plastic recycling.
The school for underprivileged students does not take any fees from the students. Interestingly, the students here have to bring plastic bottles for a fee. Every week, the students have to bring 25 plastic bottles as fees.
In a bid to end illiteracy and trash in their area, two kind-hearted persons Parmita Sharma and Mazin Mukhtar co-founded the school in 2016. The students can study for free to end illiteracy and at the same time, they can collect plastic bottles every week to end trash.
Apart, the school promotes tuition and self-study. So, the elder students teach the younger ones which helps them understand their subject better. Moreover, plastic bottles are used to make DIY objects, wall bricks, roads, and even toilets.
This apart, the students are taught plastic recycling, carpentry, gardening, and several languages.
The story of the incredible school was shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, by Temjen Imna Along, popular politician from Nagaland.
“If this doesn’t surprise you, what does?”, Temjen wrote while sharing the video.
Since then, the school has become the hot topic of discussion on social media with netizens applauding the noble gesture of the founders of the school.
