In a shocking incident, Sameer Khandekar (55), a professor of IIT Kanpur suffered a cardiac arrest on stage on Friday while delivering a speech on how to live a healthy life during an alumni meet on the campus. Khandekar later died after the cardiac incident.
According to the reports, Khandekar was addressing an alumni meet event in the auditorium of the campus. He was delivering a speech on how to take care of health.
During his address, Khandekar suddenly stopped and held his chest. Everyone in the auditorium was clueless about what was happening. Before anyone could do anything, Khandekar collapsed on the stage.
Soon, he was rushed to a nearby hospital where the doctors declared him brought-dead. The doctors informed that Khandekar died of cardiac arrest.
It is worth mentioning that Khandekar is survived by his wife and son. He joined IIT Kanpur as an assistant professor in the Mechanical Department in 2014. Later, he became the HOD of the department.
A pall of gloom descended on the campus and among the students following the incident.
