Software engineer seeks divorce after wife ‘demands’ Rs 5000 for physical relationship

In a bizarre incident, a software engineer in Bengaluru has made allegations against his wife, claiming that she has been demanding money in exchange for physical intimacy. 

Srikanth, the husband, has even filed a complaint at Vyalikaval police station, stating that he was being threatened and harassed by his wife, Bindushree, whom he married in August 2022, after meeting through a matrimonial platform.

Complaint Filed Amidst Marital Strife 

Srikanth alleged that for over two years of marriage, Bindushree has refrained from physical intimacy, demanding Rs 5,000 each time. He even claimed she engaged in blackmail, threatened self-harm, and even attempted to harm him.

Additionally, he claimed that her family has been requesting a monthly contribution of Rs 75,000 towards a home loan for a property co-owned by his wife and her mother. 

Impact on Professional Life

These ongoing family tensions have disrupted his professional commitments, culminating in job loss due to interference during his work-from-home arrangement. He claims to have documented these disturbances as evidence. 

Srikanth expressed his intention to pursue a divorce. However, Bindushree has been demanding a settlement of Rs 45 lakh, he alleged.

Wife Alleges Domestic Violence:

Meanwhile, the wife has denied these accusations and, in turn, raised charges of domestic violence against her husband. She claimed that she had been physically assaulted, treated like a servant, and harassed over dowry.

She has accused her in-laws of threatening to invade her privacy by suggesting to installation of a camera in her bedroom.Based on the complaint, the police have summoned the couple for questioning.
