Bride eating Rasgulla
In a surprising turn of events in Bihar’s Munger district, a bride fled her wedding mandap after the jai mala (garland exchange) ceremony. The incident occurred in Sajuwa Panchayat under the Asarganj police station area on April 23, 2025.
The bride, Nandini alias Neha Kumari (21), daughter of Arun Mandal, had just completed the jai mala ceremony with groom Amarjeet Kumar of Baijnathpur village. As the rituals continued, Neha ate a rasgulla and told the groom she needed to wash her hands. However, she never returned.
Family members checked her room and discovered she was missing. It was later found that she had fled with her boyfriend. The groom, angered by the incident, threw his wedding headgear in frustration and left with his wedding party without completing the marriage.
Neha’s father, Ajay Mandal, a labourer in Delhi, revealed that the marriage was arranged a year earlier and was initially scheduled for November 2024 but was postponed by the groom's side. The wedding finally took place in 2025. Ajay also stated that the family had given Rs 2.5 lakh as dowry.
The bride’s family has filed a complaint at the Asarganj police station. Police officials have begun investigating and are searching for the missing bride. The incident has caused significant embarrassment and emotional distress to both families, particularly the bride’s, who were hosting the wedding with much celebration.
