Balasore: Unidentified miscreants allegedly looted gold and silver ornaments from two Shiva temples at Sabira village under Soro police limits in Balasore district on Sunday night.

As per reports, the miscreants entered the temple premises after breaking down the main door and decamped with the ornaments.

The theft was detected by the priest who arrived to open the temple gate this morning. An FIR was immediately lodged following which the Soro police reached the spot and began investigation.

At least seven temples in the same village were looted last month. While the police have failed to make any headway in the previous cases, yet another loot today has triggered anger among the locals.

Earlier, on April 11, miscreants looted hundis (donation boxes) and valuables worth lakhs of rupees from seven temples including the Radha Krushna, Patrasuni, Jagulei and Hanuman temple in the village.

The crown, chita and other ornaments adorning the deities inside the Garbha Gruha along with the cash inside the donation boxes were missing. The empty donation boxes were found lying in a field near the village.
