WhatsApp upgrades Android interface with bottom navigation bar

WhatsApp continuously enhances its platform by introducing new features, making it more user-friendly.

Recently, WhatsApp revamped its Android interface with a swipeable navigation bar at the bottom, as officially announced.

This change will soon be available on phones, prompting users to update the app from the Play Store or App Store if not already updated.

According to WABetaInfo, chats, calls, communities, and status tabs are now located at the bottom, aligning with the iOS version for a consistent experience.

WhatsApp explained that the bottom bar is designed for easier access, closer to the user's thumbs, facilitating seamless navigation between tabs without reaching to the top of the screen.

On the 'X' platform, users expressed mixed reactions. One tweeted, "The app feels more complex now. The simplicity I loved seems diluted, especially with the new community feature."

Another user mentioned, "How do I explain these new features to my mother? She's finding it challenging to adapt."

Additionally, WhatsApp is reportedly introducing a ‘suggested contacts’ section in the Chats tab, recommending new contacts for users to engage with, as per WABetaInfo's report.
