Some of us love to go to bed with our favourite music playing like a lullaby, but we don't want to get up to switch it off. Well, at least iPhone users have that privilege (sorry Android phone users). iPhones have a nice little hack that you can use to go to bed while listening to your favourite song or a calming sound.

The Timer feature in the Clock app on your iPhone has a feature called Stop Playing. This might seem odd at first glance since you normally set a timer to countdown, but Stop Playing allows you to use it in other ways.

Follow the steps mentioned below to set Stop Playing on your iPhone:

  • Play the music on Apple Music or Spotify (tested on both)
  • To open the Control Centre on your iPhone, swipe up from the bottom of the screen on iPhone 8 or older; from the upper right ‘ear’ of the screen on iPhone X or later
  • Now tap on the Timer button
  • Now using the dials, choose the duration for which you want your audio to play
  • After that, tap when the timer ends
  • Now scroll down to the bottom and select Stop Playing
  • After that tap Set in the top-right corner of the screen
  • At last, tap Start to start your timer

And Voila! Your music will stop playing after the scheduled time. Now that your iPhone screen is off, you can tuck into bed. If the timer ends and you haven't fallen asleep yet, just resume the music and restart the timer.
