A year's time to go by when the world's fastest wireless broadband 5G technology will make a debut in India, but the smartphone manufacturers have been quite aggressive in ensuring a faster roll-out of 5G enabled smartphones in the country.

The consumers are seemingly lapping up it with all glee. As per Counterpoint latest report, the demand at home is already gathering steam and is expected to reach double digits over the next few months.

"Even in the absence of a 5G network, the share of 5G smartphones sales in India reached 7 per cent and it might hit 21 per cent for the full year," said a joint survey report of Counterpoint and Realme.

As per another report by renowned tech research firm IDC, the share of 5G-enabled smartphones from the total chunk of smartphones sales in the country will touch 20-25% this year.

In the given backdrop, OnePlus, the top 5G smartphone brand in the country in Q1 2021, as per Counterpoint Research, has the 'never settle' motto. After tasting a blockbuster success with OnePlus Nord that became the best-selling 5G smartphone model during the quarter in the country, it is readying up with another stunner - OnePlus Nord 2 - on July 22.

While the company CEO Pete Lau has only said, "Join us on July 22 as we officially introduce the OnePlus Nord 2 5G for our users in Europe and India," the speculation is rife that the company may fix the price of the new handset at below 30k (Rs 23-27k)

•    The RAM may be at 12GB with 256 GB storage
•    The Screen will be around 6.43 full HD AMOLED display
•    The refresh rate will be 90Hz.
•    Camera Hardware: 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor

•    The amount of light has increased by 63.8% compared to the previous generation IMX586.
•    Supports full-pixel Omni-directional focusing.
•    Unique 2×2 pixel structure makes focusing faster and more accurate.
•    This sensor also supports focus tracking for video.
