Passwords are used by most people now, and the world without them is hard to imagine. Apple, Google, and Microsoft have been working hard to create passwords for the past few years. Google has even rolled out passkeys for google chrome users, this is an alternative way to passwords.
What are passkeys?
How to use passkeys on Google Chrome
Passkeys will be securely synced on android through a google password manager. Moreover, other password managers that support passkeys will also sync them. Users will be prompted to use passkeys on sites and apps instead of passwords.” Once you have a passkey saved on your device it can show up in autofill when you're signing in to help you be more secure” explains google manager.
Desktop users can also use passkeys from nearby mobile devices and since “Since passkeys are built on industry standards, you can use either an Android or iOS device” says google manager Sarraf in a blog post.
“When you sign in this way, your passkey does not leave your mobile device. Only security-generated code is exchanged with the site so, unlike a password, there is nothing that could be leaked” he further added.
