Since last night, ChatGPT has been experiencing issues, and users have flooded social media on 'X' platform with complaints.
Some reported encountering a message saying "ChatGPT is at capacity right now" when trying to log in.
OpenAI acknowledged a major outage between 5:42 AM – 7:16 AM PT, stating they have identified and fixed the problem.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman explained on 'X' that the demand for the new feature exceeded expectations, causing temporary access issues for ChatGPT subscribers.
He apologised for the inconvenience. However, a viral report from Bloomberg suggests the abnormal traffic causing the outages might be a result of hackers attempting a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack.
OpenAI acknowledged this in their latest system update titled 'Periodic outages across ChatGPT and API,' stating that they are actively working to mitigate the situation.
