ALERT for Indian content creators! YouTube to ban THESE videos, check details

The number of content creators has witnessed a massive surge in recent times. While there are numerous dedicated and authentic content creators across the world, there are users who upload videos with misleading titles and thumbnails. Such content creators in India need to beware as YouTube will soon begin enforcing stricter rules against misleading videos, targeting 'egregious clickbait' promising content that the video fails to deliver.

As per reports, the crackdown will focus particularly on videos covering current events and breaking news, with titles having 'BREAKING NEWS' to attract viewers without having related content.

Google will roll out the enforcement gradually over the coming months.

Initially, YouTube will remove violating content without issuing strikes against creators' channels. With this, YouTube aims to give content producers time to adjust to the new guidelines. Moreover, the company plans to prioritize enforcement on new video uploads rather than existing content.

In a Google India blog post, YouTube stated, "This can leave viewers feeling tricked, frustrated or even misled, particularly in moments when they come to YouTube in search of important or timely information."

Videos with titles claiming major political developments that aren't discussed in the content or thumbnails advertising 'Top Political News' without having the actual news are examples of violations.

The policy will target cases where there is a clear disconnect between a video's promotional elements and its actual content.

However, the company hasn't specified how it will categorize news or current events.
