Kevin Pietersen
Considering the batting debacle of Team India in the last few months, BCCI is considering to include an additional support staff member, preferably a batting coach.
Following the development, former England captain Kevin Pietersen has put his hand up for the role. The stylish former England batter has been a regular commentator in the IPL and other major tournaments. Kevin also boasts an outstanding CV regarding batting credentials.
In 104 Tests, Pietersen garnered a total of 8,181 runs at an impressive average of 47.28. His 23 centuries place him third on England’s all-time list for most Test hundreds.
However, Kevin does not have any experience of coaching a top-level cricket team.
“A few names are being considered, including former domestic cricket heavyweights. However, no final decision has been made,” said a BCCI source.

Notably, the Indian team doesn’t have a special batting coach now like the earlier sides. Instead, the current head coach Gautam Gambhir has decided to keep two additional coaches-Abhishek Nayar and Ryan ten Doeschate with him.
India’s top order including veteran batters like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are currently struggling with their batting form and as a result India suffered a humiliating loss against Australia in the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy. India were also whitewashed 0-3 against New Zealand in their home series.
Under the circumstances, the team management feels that a specialist batting coach is required for the Indian team.
