Australian cricketers Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins were sold for whopping amounts of Rs 24.75 crore and Rs Rs 20.5 crore respectively at the IPL 2024 auction in Dubai on Tuesday.
While Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) bought left-arm pacer Starc, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) got Australian captain and speedster Cummins with the astounding amount.
Moreover, New Zealand’s aggressive all-rounder Daryl Mitchell was picked by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) with a huge amount of ₹14 crore. PBKS bought all-rounder Harshal Patel for ₹11.75 crore. CSK picked all-rounder Shardul Thakur for Rs 4 crore. West Indies T20 captain Rovman Powell was sold for a whopping ₹7.40 crore to Rajasthan Royals.
Astonished by the IPL 2024 where some of the players were sold with such a huge amount of money, some of the netizens were baffled how super talented players like Jaspit Bumrah and explosive batsman Suryakumar Yadav are playing for Mumbai Indians at just Rs 12 cr and Rs 8 cr respectively. Many of them gave some interesting comments on social media platform X (earlier known as Twitter).
“Seeing this huge auction frauds, just a reminder 2 greatest players of this format named Bumrah & SKY plays for Mumbai Indians at 12 cr & 8 cr respectively,” wrote a fan on X (earlier known as Twitter).
“When Cummins and Starc are getting such huge amounts, just imagine what Bumrah will get if he comes in the auction. Maybe we’ll see him there next year,” tweeted another fan.
In his response to IPL 2024 auction, a third user commented, “When any random player gets 18, 20 crs. Jasprit Bumrah doesn’t even get the money he deserves just for his loyalty for the team. He’s the most deserving guy for 20cr. #iplauction2024.”
