Although he played well in Perth last week, King Kohli was stunned by Mitchell Starc in the first installment of the pink-ball Test on Day 1. He perished against a short of length delivery by the Australian pace bowler and was caught at the slips.

Interestingly, the dismissal was similar to his wicket in the 1st innings in Perth when Josh Hazelwood troubled him with a similar ball, inducing an inside edge that was caught at slip. Kohli made the same mistake this time and was caught at the slips once again.

Meanwhile, Starc took three wickets to slow India’s charge with the bat, as the Men in Blue made 82/4 in 23 overs at dinner break in day one’s play of the day-night Test at the Adelaide Oval. Starc first trapped Yashasvi Jaiswal (lbw) with the very first delivery before removing KL Rahul and then Virat Kohli.

Later, Scott Boland trapped Shubman Gill (lbw) with the session ending in a flip towards the hosts. India skipper Rohit Sharma who was relaxing has now joined Rishabh Pant. How the duo goes about resurrecting India’s innings will be a crucial aspect for team India who are currently leading the five-match series 1-0.
