Rohit Sharma all set to retire after Champions Trophy

Speculation was rife among the fans and experts that Team India captain Rohit Sharma would announce his retirement following a humiliating loss against Australia in the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy. However, the veteran cricketer is yet to announce his retirement.

As per BCCI sources, Rohit has confirmed his decision to lead India until the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025 with plans to retire from international cricket after the mega event.

The BCCI source revealed that this decision was mutual, with Rohit agreeing to captain India for the prestigious event under the condition that he would step down from international cricket afterward.

Now all eyes will be on Rohit on how he steers India through the competition and how he bids farewell to the international stage.

Sources also confirmed that Rohit will remain India’s captain for the upcoming ODI series against England at home.

Rohit’s retirement after the Champions Trophy will pave the way for the transition of the Indian team and the rise of a new captain. 

Rohit has been an influential figure both on the field and as a leader. It will be tough to fill in the big shoes of Rohit for any youngster in the Indian team.

It is also expected that veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is likely to announce his retirement soon.
