Gautam Gambhir
Head coach Gautam Gambhir and his support staff have come in the line of fire following Team India’s humiliating loss against Australia in the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
In the recent BCCI meeting, questions were raised over the credibility of Gambhir’s support staff, particularly against Ryan Ten Doeschate and Abhishek Nayar who don’t have much international Test cricket experience under their belt.
Moreover, several fans and experts including Sunil Gavaskar and Irfan Pathan have publicly questioned the support staff’s role as India continue to struggle in the longest format of the game.
According to some experts, except bowling coach Morne Morkel, who comes with a body of work as a Test player, assistant coaches Abhishek Nayar and Ryan ten Doeschate are lacking in coaching expertise.

As per reports in some sections of media, Gambhir’s staff might be reinforced in the coming months, with a big call likely to be taken before the 5-match Test series against England.
Meanwhile, as per BCCI sources, the future of Gambhir’s coaching staff would likely depend on the team’s results in the Champions Trophy next month.
Notably, Gambhir had asked BCCI to board the support staff as per his choice to be the head coach of Team India. Any chopping and changing will mean a huge setback for the former southpaw who has not seen much success as Team India head coach so far.
