Will former Delhi Capitals (DC) skipper Rishabh Pant join Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as the captain after MS Dhoni? Well, at least former CSK star batsman and Indian cricketer Suresh Raina thinks so.

The left-handed batsman has hinted that the Indian wicketkeeper-batsman is most likely to join the yellow army. Raina revealed that Pant recently met legendary Thala in Delhi and held a brief discussion.

“I met MS Dhoni in Delhi, Pant was also there. I think something big is going to happen. Someone will be wearing a yellow jersey soon,” Raina was quoted by ANI. Meanwhile, fans have started speculating that he would be their wicketkeeper-batter or even the captain, thanks to his strong relationship with Dhoni.

After the retirement of Thala, star batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad has been leading the team. However, with Pant’s potential to move to CSK, he is expected to take the captaincy forward. He has been in terrific form ever since his car crash in Dehradun and scored 3284 runs at an average of 148.93 with one century and 17 fifties in 111 matches for Delhi Capitals.

However, there has been no official confirmation in this regard. Both Pant and Dhoni or the CSK management is yet to make an official announcement in this regard.

Meanwhile, the IPL player retention lists were announced by the franchises and Pant has not been retained by Delhi Capitals. Pant was released by DC after playing eight seasons with the team since 2016. The capital city franchise only retained all-rounder Axar Patel and spinner Kuldeep Yadav.

On the other hand, CSK has retained MS Dhoni as an uncapped player for Rs 4 crore.
