R. Ashwin with his wife and two daughters
India’s bowling legend Ravichandran Ashwin has rightfully announced his retirement from international cricket. The off-spinner has retired on a high note, being the second-highest wicket-taker of India in Test crickets, with a total of 537 wickets in 106 matches to his name.
There is no doubt that the stellar performer enjoys a huge fan base, but it is his wife Prithi Narayanan who has always been a huge support throughout his career. Well, R. Ashwin has finally spilt the beans on his love story and how he proposed to his wife.
During an interview, the duo revealed that they attended the same school at Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan School in Chennai, but weren’t close friends. Their love story isn’t like that kind of high-school romance, but a bit the opposite, if not totally.
Getting to know about how Ravi Ashwin met his wife from Australian broadcaster coz Indian broadcasters were so busy in covering life of 1-2 cricketer that they forgot others also exist.

It was during middle school R. Ashwin first met Prithi and developed a soft corner for her. However, it wasn’t the same for Prithi. In fact, she did not like the off-spinner as he would frequently be absent from school owing to his cricket.
Things changed forever when Ashwin was selected to play with Chennai Super Kings and Prithi was working with an events company.
“I was playing for Chennai Super Kings (CSK). I got my contract. It was very new and when you go into an IPL bubble, you end up doing some shoots. That’s when I met her for the first time after a very long time. Then, we started going out. One fine day, I proposed to her at the Chemplast Cricket Ground,” Ashwin revealed.
However, Prithi wasn’t too happy and said that it was offguard.
“It was very early, he dropped the bomb very early and then kind of saw what fell into place,” Prithi said in reply. Since then, there has been no turning back or the lovey-dovey couple.
The two got married in a low-key affair in 2011 in a traditional wedding ceremony. Now, the beautiful couple is proud parents to two beautiful girls Akhira and Aadhya.
