PUBLISHED: LAST UPDATE:

Sarfaraz Khan, a consistent performer in India's domestic red-ball cricket, has lost 17 kg, addressing fitness concerns that may have impacted his international career. Despite being overlooked for the current England Test series, his transformation has drawn praise, including from Kevin Pietersen.

Sarfaraz Khan's transformation

Sarfaraz Khan, a standout performer in India’s domestic red-ball cricket, has undergone a remarkable transformation by shedding 17 kg. Known for his consistent performances, Sarfaraz has often faced criticism over his fitness, which many believe has hindered his international prospects. Despite making his Test debut against England in February last year and being part of the squad for the Australia tour, he has yet to cement a regular place in the national team.

Though Sarfaraz was once again left out of the Indian squad for the current Test series in England—this time with Sai Sudharsan and Karun Nair preferred—he has taken a significant step forward by focusing on his physical fitness. His recent transformation has caught attention, especially after he shared a photo from a gym session, revealing his impressive 17 kg weight loss.

The picture quickly gained traction online, with fans applauding his determination and commitment. Former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen was among those who noticed, praising Sarfaraz’s effort and using it as a reference point to question the fitness of another Indian cricketer, Prithvi Shaw.

“Outstanding effort, young man! Huge congrats, and I’m sure it’s going to lead to better and more consistent performances on the field. I love the time you’ve spent reorganising your priorities! Can someone show Prithvi this, please? It can be done! Strong body, strong mind,” Pietersen wrote on X.

Sarfaraz’s decision to channel his disappointment into personal improvement has sent a powerful message to selectors and fans alike.
