Mohammed Shami Divides the Internet After Bashing Sanjay Manjrekar Over IPL 2025 Auction Price Prediction
Team India’s major bowler and one of Gujarat Titans’ recently released players, Mohammed Shami engaged in an online verbal spat with former Indian cricketer and commentator, Sanjay Manjrekar.
The incident took place over Manjrekar’s comments regarding the bowler’s injury and hence, his likely price drop in the upcoming 2025 IPL auction on November 24 and 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Putting forth his views, Manjrekar said during an appearance on Star Sports that a franchise should be cautious before bringing Mohammed Shami into their line-up.
“If a franchise invests heavily and then loses him mid-season, their options become limited. This concern might lead to a drop in his price tag,” commented the ex-player.
However, the comments did not sit well with the right-arm pacer. Taking to his Instagram stories, Mohammed Shami posted a fiery message aimed at Sanjay Manjrekar along with a screenshot of an X (formerly Twitter) post mentioning the latter’s remarks.

“Baba Ki Jay Hooooo. Thoda sa gyan apne futue ke liye bhi bacha lo kaam ayeaga Sanjy G. Kisi ko futue janna ho to sir se mile,” wrote Shami as a caption. The text loosely translates to “Hail saint (baba) Snajay but please save a little wisdom for your own future. If anyone wants to know their future, do contact 'baba ji’”.
Soon after, the Internet burst with an outpour of divided reactions. While one side supported Mohammed Shami for taking his stand, another section of users lashed out at him for losing his cool against a professional commentator.

“Swag reply by Shami. Bodied that Mumbai lobby expert,” said one netizen supporting the pacer. Meanwhile, others stood with their stance believing Shami gave “an immature response” and also that “Manjrekar was right to assess Shami based on his injury”. Regardless, the debate raged on.
