PUBLISHED: LAST UPDATE:

Vaibhav Suryavanshi, aged 14, makes IPL history with a rapid 35-ball century for Rajasthan Royals against Gujarat Titans. His feat garners praise from legends and fans.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi

In a season already filled with drama and standout performances, one name has unexpectedly captured the imagination of fans and cricketing legends alike — Vaibhav Suryavanshi. At just 14 years, the Rajasthan Royals' young batting sensation has rewritten IPL history by smashing a 35-ball century, making him not only the youngest player to score an IPL hundred, but also the fastest Indian to do so in T20 history. The cricketing world is in awe, and rightly so.

A Century for the Ages

Vaibhav's breathtaking knock came against the Gujarat Titans, where he displayed a masterclass in modern T20 batting, timing, power, and maturity beyond his years. His ton, which came in just 35 balls, now stands as the second-fastest century in IPL history, behind only Chris Gayle’s iconic 30-ball hundred for RCB in 2013. Suryavanshi’s innings was laced with elegant drives, fearless pulls, and audacious innovation, leaving bowlers helpless and fans stunned.

Viral Moment: From Fan to Star

Adding a fairytale-like twist to the story, an unseen photograph of a 6-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi cheering during an IPL match in 2017 has gone viral. Shared by Dr. Sanjiv Goenka, the owner of Lucknow Super Giants and former owner of Rising Pune Supergiants, the image shows young Vaibhav in the stands during a match of Goenka's former team. Alongside the picture, Goenka wrote:

“Last night I watched in awe… this morning I came across this photo of 6-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi cheering for my then team, Rising Pune Supergiants, in 2017. Thanks Vaibhav. Lots of good wishes and support.”

Cricketing Legends React

Vaibhav's remarkable innings drew praise from across the cricketing fraternity. Sachin Tendulkar, Rohit Sharma, Mohammad Shami, and many others took to social media to applaud the youngster. Tendulkar tweeted, “What a talent! To show this level of composure and power at 14 is beyond incredible. The future of Indian cricket is bright.”
