Team India had a great loss when star all-rounder Hardik Pandya was excluded from the team during the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 due to injury. Now, the utility all-rounder is currently at the center of the most significant trading news leading up to Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 auction.
As per speculation by several fans and experts, the captain of the Gujarat Titans (GT) may leave the team and potentially return to the Mumbai Indians (MI).
However, Mumbai Indians have not yet given any comment over the development. Fans and analysts will have to wait until November 26, the closing day for IPL’s trading window, for any official confirmation in this regard.
Notably, Pandya was previously part of the Mumbai Indians team. But he was released by the franchise ahead of the 2022 season. Subsequently, he joined Gujarat Titans, and under his captaincy, GT entered to consecutive IPL finals. They also won the championship title in their debut season.
As per an IPL official, there is a chance that Pandya may switch side ahead of the IPL 2024.
“Yes, I can confirm that there have been talks of Hardik going to MI. There remains a chance that he might switch sides but at this moment, nothing more can be confirmed as of now as the deal is yet to be signed,” he said.
As per the IPL auction rule, trading involves the exchange of players. However, it is still unclear who would switch over to the Titans if Pandya returns to the MI fold.
