Veteran wicketkeeper-batsman MS Dhoni is a respectable and inspiration figure in Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Under his guidance, CSK won a record-equalling fifth Indian Premier League (IPL) title in 2023. He relinquished his captaincy ahead of the 2024 season and handed over the rein to promising star Ruturaj Gaikwad.

Despite leaving the captaincy, Dhoni still gets the loudest cheer whenever his face appears on the television screen. The Captain Cool is an inspirational figure for the CSK players too. The same was visible during CSK’s match against Gujarat Titans on Tuesday.

Sri Lanka’s speedster Matheesha Pathirana touched Dhoni’s feet before starting bowling. He was playing this season’s first match. Dhoni then blessed the talented youngster.

The video of the incident has reportedly gone viral over various social media platforms. It has garnered more than 1 M views and 20 K likes on social media platform X (earlier known as Twitter).

Several fans have showered the comment box with amazing comments.

“Great gesture towards a senior player who is paving way for his success. Rock pathhirana may God bless you,” wrote a fan.

“Worship and discipline always a win,” tweeted another fan.
